On September 21, 2023 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Turkmenistan Azizbek Madmarov met with the recently appointed Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Mergen Gurdov.

During the meeting the parties discussed the development of bilateral trade and economic relations, using the existing potential for increasing the mutual export, as well as the need to intensify informing the parties about ongoing activities in the economic sphere.

The Ambassador A.Madmarov, outlining the need to expand the commodity nomenclature and formats of bilateral cooperation, noted the feasibility of strengthening activity of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Turkmen Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation, as well as to hold its next meeting. In addition, the Ambassador noting the importance of active cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and Turkmenistan informed the interlocutor about the upcoming international universal exhibition “Kyrgyzstan EXPO-2023” and invited Turkmen side to take part in it.

In turn, M.Gurdov confirmed his interest in intensifying joint work, noted with satisfaction the round table which took place on June 16 of this year in the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan where 17 Kyrgyz companies and 40 Turkmen enterprises representing various sectors of the economy took part. The Chairman emphasized the importance of conducting such events to establish and develop contacts between the business circles of the two countries.

The parties reaffirming their intention to promote cooperation in the trade and economic spheres expressed their readiness to maintain regular contacts.
