On February 4, 2020, on the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, a meeting was held between the Chargé d'Affaires of the Kyrgyz Republic in Malaysia M. Akmatbaeva and the Vice President of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Ms. Cynthia Tan.

During the meeting were discussed prospects for the development of Kyrgyz-Malaysian relations in the field of tourism, as well as the possibility of organizing a meeting of representatives of travel agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia in order to familiarize the Malaysian side with the tourism potential of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as establish close contacts with tourism companies of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In addition, the Malaysian side expressed interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents and the Kyrgyz Association of Tour Operators.

At the same time, informational materials about Kyrgyzstan were transmitted, and M. Akmatbaeva informed Ms. Cynthia Tan about the culture and traditions of Kyrgyzstan, and about the peculiarities of summer and winter types of tourism in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Following the meeting with MATTA, agreements were reached on further developing cooperation in the tourism sector and promoting a positive image of the Kyrgyz Republic in Malaysia.
