On July 12 2021, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva A.Beishenaliev met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Mr. Filippo Grandi.

During the meeting, Permanent Representative A.Beishenaliev highly emphasized the level of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UNHCR and expressed his gratitude to Mr.Grandi for the comprehensive and timely assistance to Kyrgyzstan, including in the ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The parties discussed the ongoing issues of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UNHCR; project activities of the organization in the country, as well as promising areas of interaction between Kyrgyzstan and the UNHCR in the field of protecting the rights of refugees, asylum seekers, and further preventing statelessness. In this context, Permanent Representative A. Beishenaliev requested UNHCR to consider the possibility of implementing, together with the competent authorities of the country, a project to create and equip a base of operational stocks of equipment and property for the elimination of natural and man-made emergencies, to deploy camps and field hospitals for refugees and internally displaced persons.

In turn, the High Commissioner Mr.Grandi expressed his satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the UNHCR and Kyrgyzstan, underlined the organization's readiness to continue to provide comprehensive technical, expert and humanitarian assistance to Kyrgyzstan within its mandate, as well assuring that he would carefully consider the specific proposals of the Kyrgyz side raised by the Permanent representative A.Beishenaliev on deepening bilateral partnership between both sides.
