Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic

The statement of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic as of February 27th, 2015

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic notes with regret that the statement made by Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Belarus dated February 27, 2015 once again confirms the intention of the official authorities of the Republic of Belarus by any means to shield and protect the criminals convicted in Kyrgyzstan for the most serious crimes, including Bakiyev Janybek.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyz Republic has to re-emphasize that the official Minsk should not to mix the problem of harboring Kyrgyz criminals in the territory of Belarus.

The Belarus side's references to the meaning of "civilized state", "observance of the rights of citizens", "fair judicial protection" and "a specific approach to justice" sound absolutely irrelevant. Moreover, in the light of the well- known facts among the international community that created a well-established image of the relevant authorities of the Republic of Belarus, as a result of which their leaders are not received by the most civilized countries in the world.

In the Statement of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic A.Sh.Atambaev dated from February 26, 2015 the concern in connection with non-performance of the international obligations by the Belarus side was expressed. The statement does not contain any offensive declarations against Belarus, but on the contrary, it is imbued with respect to the Belarus nation and their history, the hope for understanding the problem and transition to constructive cooperation in terms of extradition and prosecution of the criminals and other fugitives.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic emphasizes that the Republic of Belarus should fulfill their international obligations and once again appeals to the Belarus side for constructive dialogue in the interests of the friendly peoples of our countries.
