Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev met with the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz

On April 1, 2024, as part of an official visit to Malaysia, a meeting was held between Zheenbek Kulubaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia.

The main topic of discussion was the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries in the field of export of organic agricultural products, attracting investment and developing cooperation in the field of halal industry, minerals, tourism and renewable energy sources.

The parties noted the importance of joint efforts to expand trade and economic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia, including by resuming the work of the Special Kyrgyz-Malaysian Joint Commission in the field of economic cooperation.

Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev, informing that currently, under the leadership of Kyrgyzstan, all possible measures are being taken to create a favourable investment climate, called on the Malaysian side to consider the possibility of creating investment zones in Kyrgyzstan on the basis of existing FEZs with the involvement of large Malaysian enterprises.

The Malaysian side was also invited to consider the possibility of implementing several “pilot” investment projects, which could have a positive impact on investment cooperation and open wide opportunities for the implementation of other important projects between the two countries.

In order to expand cooperation in the trade and economic sphere and establish contacts between the business communities of the two countries, the importance of the participation of representatives of public and private structures in major business forums and exhibitions held in both Kyrgyzstan and Malaysia was noted.
