Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev met with Minister of Transport of Malaysia Lok Siew Fook

On April 2, 2024, as part of an official visit to Malaysia, a meeting was held between Zheenbek Kulubaev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Lok Siew Fook, the Minister of Transport of Malaysia, during which the issue of opening direct flights between our countries was discussed.

Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev noted that the Kyrgyz side is interested in opening direct flights by granting fifth freedom of air rights to Malaysian airlines.

Taking into account that the opening of direct flights between our countries will give impetus to the development of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian contacts between the two countries, readiness was expressed to provide favourable conditions for the opening of not only a direct flight, but also a cargo flight, which, in turn, turn, will facilitate the transportation of goods and products between our countries.

In addition, the prospects for expanding trade and economic relations and ensuring effective transport and logistics routes for the transportation of goods were also discussed.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in continuing negotiations on the opening of direct flights between the Kyrgyz Republic and Malaysia.
